Top Tips

Explore the highlights of the West MacDonnell Ranges with a full day tour from Alice Springs! In just one day, you will see the magnificent dusty red ranges and gorges, go on nature walks and even swim in two remote swimming holes. Departing from Alice Spring at 7.45am, admire the beautiful scenery on the drive. Enjoy nature walks at Simpsons Gap, and Standley Chasm where you will have morning tea. Next, the tour will visit Ochre Pits to see where Aboriginal groups mined ochre for traditional ceremonies and medicinal purposes before heading to Ormiston Gorge for an outdoor picnic lunch and swimming stop at the water hole.

Following lunch is an additional stop at the Ellery Creek Big Hole-one of Australia's most popular and picturesque swimming holes surrounded by the walls of the high red cliffs. After a full day exploring the Australian Outback, return to Alice Springs at 5.30pm.
